What Is Clinical K-Beauty?
It’s no secret that Korean culture has single-handedly transformed the global beauty landscape. From cleansing balms and vitamin c serums to sheet masks and snail creams, these products based on timeless Korean beauty rituals have become coveted staples on every woman’s vanity. This isn’t by coincidence though – Korea has a deep rooted passion for skin care using high-quality and innovative ingredients that are also extremely effective.
What is K-Beauty?
K-Beauty, or Korean Beauty, is the term for skin care products and treatments that are derived and inspired from South Korea. The focus for these beauty products are on skin aesthetics such as health, hydration and luminous skin, often referred to as “glass skin.” Rather than applying layers of heavy makeup, K-Beauty has a ‘skin first’ approach and focuses on achieving healthy skin. But it doesn’t begin and end with skin care products.
Clinical K-Beauty Takes It One Step Further
In the pursuit for a flawless, glass-like complexion, K-Beauty companies have fueled innovation by combining centuries-old knowledge with groundbreaking industrial science to create state-of-the-art devices, treatments and procedures.
This trifecta is exactly why Korea is considered the hub of aesthetic innovation.
Whether it’s their cutting edge ingredient research, latest injectables or laser technologies, Korea is constantly revolutionizing the way we care for our skin. And you don’t have to go far to nab a piece of these trailblazing advancements. If you’ve ever had an oxygen facial, microneedling, LED light therapy, laser treatment – the list goes on and on – you’ve experienced the beauty of Korean technology.
At AIREM, Founder and Dual Board Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon Dr. Eunice Park consistently has her finger on the pulse with novel Korean beauty innovations and techniques. Because of this, she is able to offer the most advanced aesthetic treatments including the picosecond laser, hydra facial, radio frequency microneedling, microinfusion, thread lifting and more, as well as physician-formulated clinical-grade skin care products.
Rejuvenate With Clinical K-Beauty Treatments
While AIREM offers non-surgical and surgical treatments with deep roots in K-Beauty, three exclusive treatments truly showcase the latest Korean innovations in medical aesthetics.
MIRACELL
Miracell radio-frequency microneedling is one of the newest tech advances from South Korea. It is best suited for tightening the skin, minimizing pore size, smoothing fine lines and wrinkles and addressing the early signs of aging. This minimally invasive treatment works by gently applying a wand of sterile microneedles deep into the dermis of your skin to stimulate the natural production of collagen while simultaneously delivering radio-frequency heat energy to tighten and lift your skin.

EVERGLOW
Everglow is the ultimate refresh treatment to brighten complexion, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, boost collagen production and improve skin texture. Using a 24 karat gold-plated needle microinjector, we stamp a luxurious and customized combo of hyaluronic acid, antioxidants, retinol and peptides directly into the skin.

UPLIFT
Uplift is a minimally invasive procedure that uses dissolvable medical-grade sutures to produce a subtle but visible “lift” in the skin. Instead of surgically removing the loose facial skin, Uplift simply suspends soft tissue with dissolvable threads creating an effect of pulling the skin back slightly to lift and tighten the face. The threads also combat aging by boosting the body’s “healing response” and causing your body to produce collagen.

Which Laser Resurfacing Treatment Is Right For You?
You wear sunscreen. You use Vitamin C. You are even a regular with azelaic acid. But you still have stubborn dark spots that just won’t go away. Skin discoloration, also referred to as pigmentation, is very common and can be formed over time from sun damage, aging or even acne. If you hit a wall in treating your dark spots with topicals, laser skin resurfacing might be the treatment you need to finally achieve an even, radiant complexion.
WHAT IS A LASER RESURFACING TREATMENT?
Laser skin resurfacing is a facial rejuvenation treatment that uses state-of-the-art laser technology to improve the skin’s appearance by reducing wrinkles, age spots, sun spots, acne scarring, and oth- er hyperpigmentation as well as tightening the skin and balancing uneven tone.
Before you dive down the Google rabbit hole, read our 411 to laser skin surfacing and which laser resurfacing treatment is right for you.
But, first…
TYPES OF LASER SKIN RESURFACING
THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF LASER RESURFACING TECHNOLOGY: ABLATIVE AND NON-ABLATIVE.
Ablative laser resurfacing is typically more invasive as it removes the top layer of the skin. Dramatic improvements can generally be seen after a single treatment, but most individuals need on average one to two weeks or more of recovery time to heal.
On the other hand, non-ablative laser resurfacing works by heating the underlying skin – without harming the skin surface – in order to trigger your body to naturally produce new collagen. Non-ablative laser resurfacing is best at improving skin texture and tone. In some cases they may also be used to improve the appearance of fine lines, mild wrinkles and pigmentation as well.
Several treatments are usually needed to see significant results, but the recovery process is generally mild. Other than some redness or swelling, most people can resume normal routines right away.
AIREM LASER RESURFACING TREATMENTS
Currently, AIREM offers three laser skin resurfacing treatments: ClariPore, SkinEven and FadeAway. Learn more about what makes each of these laser resurfacing treatments unique.

CLARIPORE
Looking to tighten and brighten your complexion for perfectly even skin tone? Then the Clari- Pore treatment is the one for you! Using gentle fractional laser resurfacing technology, this gentle non-ablative treatment addresses and prevents textural changes and early signs of aging. Nano- meter wavelengths heat up the targeted tissue to create millions of microscopic treatment zones in the upper layers of the skin. This process stimulates the body’s collagen production to replace damaged skin with healthy tissue, and ultimately improving skin tone and texture.
THE CLARIPORE TREATMENT IS IDEAL FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO:
• Prevent and/or reduce early signs of aging (such as fine lines and wrinkles)
• Diminish superficial dark spots
• Improve skin texture and tone
• Reduce pore size
• Enhance clarity, vibrancy and radiance of the complexion
Mild redness may appear after treatment but will diminish within several days. Multiple treatments are recommended to achieve optimal results. While results can be seen within 3-4 days following treatment, final results will gradually emerge during the next 3 weeks and last for up to several months to years. No down time required.

SKINEVEN
If you’re interested in kicking stubborn melasma and fine lines to the curb then the SkinEven treat- ment is your perfect match! Utilizing gentle fractional laser resurfacing technology, SkinEven im- proves skin tone and texture by specifically targeting discoloration issues such as sun spots, hyper- pigmentation and melasma, with the added benefit of enhancing your skin’s permeability of skin care products. By creating microscopic treatment zones through nanometer wavelengths, your skin stimulates the body’s collagen production to replace damaged skin with a more youthful dermal layer for rejuvenation and pigmentation.
THE SKINEVEN TREATMENT IS IDEAL FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO:
• Reduce moderate signs of aging (such as fine lines and wrinkles)
• Diminish stubborn dark spots, acne scarring, hyperpigmentation and melasma
• Improve skin texture and tone
• Reduce pore size
• Enhance clarity, vibrancy and radiance of the complexion
Mild redness and inflammation may occur after treatment but will diminish within a few hours. For best results, a series of 4-6 treatments is recommended. While results can be seen within 24 hours following treatment, final results will gradually emerge during the next 7 days and last for up to sev- eral months to years. No down time required.

FADEAWAY
For those wanting an intense transformation and don’t mind recovery times of one to two weeks, the FadeAway treatment will be your new obsession for eliminating deeply embedded skin dis- coloration to smoothening wrinkles and fine lines. The FadeAway treatment uses picosecond laser technology with a high power laser beam and ultra-short pulses to transform your skin from the inside out. The ultra-short pulses lead to a photoacoustic effect rather than a photothermal (or heat) approach as heating the skin can lead to unwanted side effects, such as downtime and increased pigmentation in certain skin types.. This advanced picosecond laser utilizes different handpieces and laser wavelengths to target pigment in the deeper layers of skin. This treatment can be used to treat one spot, one area or the full face. As the pico laser breaks down the pigmentation into small- er pieces, it also creates room for new collagen and elastin growth, resulting in brighter, firmer and more youthful-looking skin.
THE FADEAWAY TREATMENT IS IDEAL FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO:
• Diminish deeply embedded dark spots, and hyperpigmentation
• Reduce moderate signs of aging (such as fine lines and wrinkles)
• Stimulate collagen and elastin production
• Improve skin texture and tone
• Reduce pore size
• Enhance clarity, vibrancy and radiance of the complexion
Mild redness and inflammation may occur after treatment but will diminish within a few hours. Initial darkening of treated spots will occur and should subside within 7 days. This is a normal result of pigment changes. For best results, a series of 3-6 treatments is recommended. Results can be seen within 1-2 weeks following treatment and last for up to several months to years. There is mild to moderate down time depending on the extent of treatment.
DOCTOR’S NOTES:
COMMON FAQS ABOUT LASER SKIN RESURFACING
What is laser skin resurfacing
Laser skin resurfacing is a facial rejuvenation treatment that uses state-of-the-art laser technology to improve the skin’s appearance by reducing wrinkles, age spots, sun spots, acne scarring, and oth- er hyperpigmentation as well as tightening and balancing skin tone.
Is laser skin resurfacing safe?
Yes, the FDA has approved both the fractional and picosecond laser devices. AIREM’s board-certi- fied facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Eunice Park, has extensive experience using these lasers and will use her expertise to customize your treatment so it is safe and effective.
Is laser treatment for acne safe?
Yes! Laser skin resurfacing for acne scars is a safe, technologically advanced means of improving the appearance of your skin. Medical-grade, FDA approved light technology is used to diminish scars and stimulate collagen for a smoother appearance. Several sessions may be required to fully diminish the scars and pigmentation.
How effective is laser skin resurfacing?
Laser skin resurfacing is effective in diminishing dark spots, balancing skin tone and reducing the signs of aging, especially with multiple treatment sessions. Laser skin resurfacing does not pre- vent new or previous dark spots, wrinkles or uneven skin tone from recurring as aging, genetics, sun damage, acne and other factors can have an effect on the skin.
Am I a good candidate for laser resurfacing?
Laser skin resurfacing is a good option for men and women that are seeing signs of aging, have un- even skin tone and are looking to refresh their appearance.. This treatment is appropriate for most skin tones.
What are the side effects of laser resurfacing?
Side effects will depend on the type, depth and intensity of laser treatment. SkinEven and Claripore are two of AIREM’s most popular non-ablative laser resurfacing treatment with minimal downtime.
Does the skin darken after laser treatment?
In rare cases, laser skin resurfacing can cause post-inflammatory pigmentation (PIH). PIH can occur in Asian, Hispanic and African American individuals who have Fitzpatrick skin types III or greater as well as those with very sensitive skin. During your consultation, Dr. Park will address any concerns you may have including how to treat PIH if you happen to experience this condition.
What is the laser resurfacing recovery time?
The recovery time varies from a few days to one to 2 weeks depending on the type, depth and in- tensity of laser treatment. None of the laser skin resurfacing treatments that AIREM offers require any down time.
How do I take care of my skin after laser resurfacing?
We recommend gentle skin care products and applying sunscreen for the first few weeks to pre- vent possible damage to the treated areas. AIREM formulated the Recovery Ritual to be used after laser and aesthetic treatments.
How long does laser resurfacing last?
Laser treatments are usually performed on a yearly basis to maintain best results. Sun damage, wrinkles and pigmentation continue to affect our skin. Maintenance is key to a healthy and luminous complexion.
How much is laser resurfacing?
Laser resurfacing costs are approximately $550 to $1000 per session. At AIREM, we offer a laser resurfacing package with multiple sessions at a competitive rate.
When should I have laser skin resurfacing?
Autumn is typically considered “laser” season. The fall and winter months are the best time to un- dergo a laser skin resurfacing procedure in order to minimize sun exposure post-procedure. During the fall and winter months daytime hours are shorter and we spend more time indoors during the healing period

Botox For The First Time? Here Is What To Expect.
Botox For The First Time? Here Is What To Expect.
I remember the exact moment – I was 31 and working as an editor for a fashion magazine in NYC. It was day 4 of NYFW, which meant a gruesome schedule of shows all day and brand events all night. (Trust me, it’s not nearly as glamorous as it sounds!) I tumbled out of bed after sleeping for what felt like a blink and fell into the bathroom. The blue circles under my eyes had formed years ago from constant 100 hour work weeks and traveling through wildly different time zones in mere days. When I looked in the mirror that morning something different caught my eye; the deep etched line in my forehead – three to be exact – and the complimentary twins at my brows. Time and lifestyle had finally caught up to me. And it showed.
I want to note that I am a true celebrator of aging. I am not afraid of wearing my many moments of laughter like the hottest “it” accessory at the corners of my mouth. Or toting around my hard work and determination in (fashionable) under eye bags. As we age, we gain life. And I love that. I just wanted to slow down the physical process.
I began shopping for solutions. Anti-aging (*cringe*) serums guaranteed the face of my youth, acupuncture pledged to patch up the gap, facial yoga promised a facelift. Silk pillowcases, Evian water, face masks…the list went on and the wrinkles stayed put.
I had known about Botox. After all, I did work in fashion – frozen faces were a prerequisite to sitting front row. I just did not share the same desire to resemble a mannequin.
That’s when I started hearing rumblings about doctors giving a “baby botox” – the natural-looking approach that administers a smaller dose to only subtly tweak your expressions. They – the baby-faced trendsetters it was so lovingly named after – called it prejuvenation. I was on board.
“BABY BOTOX”…THE BABY-FACED TRENDSETTERS IT WAS SO LOVINGLY NAMED AFTER – CALLED IT PREJUVENATION. I WAS ON BOARD.
DERMASMOOTH TREATMENT
Luckily, I had just been introduced to Dr. Eunice Park, a Dual Board Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon and Founder of K-Beauty med spa AIREM. She was specifically sought after for her subtle but highly effective hand and oh-so natural results. After our brief pen pal exchange where I besieged her with every question that had ever crossed my mind, I decided to take the plunge in prejuvenation with Dr. Park’s DermaSmooth treatment.
DermaSmooth, a facial treatment using a customized cocktail of wrinkle reducers such as Botox, Dysport, Xeomin and Jeuveau, smoothes out and diminishes the appearance of crow’s feet, forehead lines, brow furrows and laugh lines. By inhibiting the contraction of muscles in and around wrinkles, the DermaSmooth treatment works on the lines that are already visible as well as the prevention of new ones from forming.
The results? Smooth, wrinkle-free skin radiating a youthful glow.
Sign.Me.Up.
I would be lying if I wasn’t nervous the first time I got Botox. I didn’t really know what to expect even after the millions of Instagram before-and-afters and the hundreds of walking testimonials staring back at me on the daily. Thankfully, Dr. Park has the voice of an angel and the patience of a saint, and not only wrapped up the treatment in a mere few minutes, but also took the time to chat me through potential side effects and what I should/should not do in the days after.
In the end, my Botox came out beautifully. I am not ashamed of telling people that I get it regularly – most are surprised because of how natural my face looks (I sense the need to take some credit here too so that my 10-step skin care routine feels justifiable).
PREJUVENATION REGIMEN
While I’m always seeking ways to improve my prejuvenation regimen, over the years I have added bi-monthly Miracell treatments, clinical-grade skin care products and stress-reducing practices like meditation and scheduled time to enjoy my hobbies. If there is one thing I’ve learned from AIREM (besides it’s the Holy Grail of Botox and beauty) is that prejuvenation truly starts with the inside.

DISCOVER YOUR GWALLEE
THE GWALLEE PRINCIPLE
At the heart of Korean culture is the centuries-old principle of gwallee. This concept of maintaining self-care practices to help take care of your wellness and beauty with purpose and intention is very different from the often romanticized and “wellness-washing” notion of western self-care activities. Gwallee sits deeper. It is the caring of one’s mind through reading; the healing of the body through a massage; the rejuvenation of the soul through quality time with friends.
In South Korea, this principle is passed down through multi-generational living. Women of every age share collective beauty and life experiences through timeless rituals. It is here where gwallee is practiced.
Named after the Korean word for beauty and based on the concept of gwallee, AIREM strives to carry on these deeply rooted rituals in the hope that you discover your gwallee.
Armed with clinical skin care knowledge and this rich tradition, AIREM introduces

REVITALIZE TIRED-LOOKING SKIN
THE HYDRADOME
Developed with advanced beauty technology from South Korea, the HydraDome combines two aesthetic treatments – oxygen and LED light therapy – into one procedure that helps to nourish your skin and promote collagen growth for an instantly glowing complexion.
Commonly referred to as an “oxygen facial,” the HydraDome saturates your skin with highly con- centrated, vitamin-infused oxygen molecules via a contactless spray, while adding in an intermittent supply of light energy at optimum wavelengths that are specific to your skin’s needs.
The benefits of the HydraDome oxygen-infused and LED light therapy include:

DEEP HYDRATION
Because your skin is constantly being robbed of its moisture from the sun, dust and pollution, it can get extremely dry and lifeless. The essential nutrients and vital fluids, such as hyaluronic acid, in the oxygen spray work to recondition the skin barrier, replenish moisture and restore the pH balance.

COLLAGEN PRODUCTION
Collagen is the protein that helps your skin cells bind together, resulting in firm skin and strong elasticity. As collagen weakens with age, sun damage and other stressors, wrinkles start to appear. The HydraDome can help to support your natural collagen and smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

NEW SKIN CELL GROWTH
Your skin cells are constantly dying and being replaced by new, healthy cells. As you age, this cell regeneration process tends to slow. That’s where oxygen comes in. Oxygen is able to boost the frequency at which new cells are created, aiding in faster cell turnover and ultimately diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

EVEN TONE
Every now and then, your skin may need a detox. Oxygen, along with the added nutrients and vitamins, can help boost your skin’s detoxification process and lessen the negative effects of pollution, sun exposure and poor diet.

DETOXIFICATION
Every now and then, your skin may need a detox. Oxygen, along with the added nutrients and vitamins, can help boost your skin’s detoxification process and lessen the negative effects of pollution, sun exposure and poor diet.

CLEAR SKIN
Just like detoxification, oxygen can also help heal acne. When the pores of your skin become clogged with oil, dirt, dead skin or bacteria, they enlarge and produce acne. The HydraDome purges the pores of impurities and helps shrink them to prevent unwanted acne.
THE ADD-ON
While the HydraDome is included in The Gwalle Renewal, it can also be an add-on to other treat- ments such as the SkinEven Fractional Laser Treatment, Micropore Microneedling Treatment, Miracell Radio Frequency Microneedling Treatment and even certain surgical procedures, to speed up recovery and soothe skin
THE Details
The Gwallee Renewal was created to be an hour of pure rest and relaxation in between your busy schedule. Because of that, there is no downtime, no painful side effects and the results are typically instant.
