ADVANCED SKIN REJUVENATION WITH THESE NEW LASER RESURFACING TREATMENTS

ADVANCED SKIN REJUVENATION WITH THESE NEW LASER RESURFACING TREATMENTS

Written By: AIREM BEAUTY EXPERT

Skin is the largest organ on the body and as such is very complex. Pigment, tone and texture changes can be attributed to many factors, including genes, hormones, age, lifestyle and environment. To address this, AIREM is excited to announce The Rohrer Spectrum laser platform, a results-driven state-of-art workhorse in the cosmetic industry. This multi-platform laser system ~includes the following modalities:

  • INTENSE PULSED LIGHT (IPL)
  • LONG PULSED YAG
  • ERBIUM YAG

These modalities specifically target different skin concerns and conditions, such as chronic redness, broken capillaries, wrinkles, and hair and tattoo removal, to create an advanced, customized treatment plan that aligns with your skin care needs. Because this advanced laser system has a wide variety of uses, AIREM developed the AIREM LaserTone Treatments to help determine which treatment is right for you and will have the highest effectiveness in addressing skin tone and texture health.

LASER 101: TYPES OF LASER SKIN RESURFACING

There are two types of laser resurfacing technology: ablative and non-ablative. Ablative laser resurfacing vaporizes the top layer of the skin using high temperature. An example of the platform’s ablative laser rejuvenation is the Erbium Yag. Dramatic improvements can generally be seen after a single treatment, which include more even skin tone due to the diminishing appearance of hyperpigmentation, scarring and wrinkles. Due to the intensity of this proven treatment, most individuals need on average one week of recovery time to heal.

Non-ablative laser resurfacing is a technique in which lasers are used to resurface the skin to improve pigment and texture without physical injury to the skin surface. Examples of the platform’s non-ablative laser rejuvenation and resurfacing are Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), hair removal and Long Pulsed Yag. These treatments are revolutionary non-invasive laser therapies designed to significantly improve skin tone and texture, including treating fine lines and wrinkles, acne and surgical scars, melasma and stretch marks, without significant downtime.

Several treatments are usually needed to see significant results, but the recovery process can range from no downtime (laser hair removal) to mild (IPL for diffused redness and broken capillaries). Based on your skin care needs and lifestyle, the AIREM team will create a personalized treatment plan that works best for the results you are looking for.

LASERTONE FACIAL TREATMENT

In this complexion clearing laser treatment, we utilize IPL and Long Pulsed Yag technology to reduce redness, target pigmentation and address vascular concerns, such as collapsing broken capillaries.

HOW THE LASERTONE FACIAL TREATMENT WORKS

The AIREM LaserTone Facial Treatment utilizes two different lasers depending on your skin care needs. In the spectrum Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) laser, intense heat energy is used to terminate the area(s) without damaging the surrounding tissue. Intense pulsed light (IPL), also known as a photofacial, is a way to improve the color and texture of the skin by undoing some of the visible
damage.

In the Long Pulsed Yag, the heat from the laser light penetrates through the skin and is absorbed by hemoglobin and melanin chromophores to treat broken blood vessels and spider veins. After heating, the vein walls collapse and seal shut. The sealed vein is then broken down and absorbed by the body resulting in a diminished appearance of the vessel or vein.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF THE LASERTONE FACIAL TREATMENT

The LaserTone facial Treatment has been proven to deliver the following results:

  • Smooth skin texture: large pore size, uneven texture, crepiness
  • Even skin tone: age spots, hyperpigmentation, freckles, spider veins, broken blood vessels and
    capillaries
  • Treat fine lines, wrinkles and redness from Rosacea
  • Resurface scars, acne marks, birthmarks and stretch marks
  • Remove unwanted hair

WHAT CAN BE EXPECTED FROM THE LASERTONE FACIAL TREATMENT

After you are numbed, our AIREM skin expert will begin scanning the laser over a specific area or your entire face. You may feel a faint rubber band snapping on the skin but due to the numbing, it will not be unpleasant. The Long Pulsed Yag also has a contact cooling tip for additional comfort.

A fan, ice pack, cool washcloth and AIREM Pearlessence Hydrating Face Mask will be provided in the office to help with the redness and swelling. The treatment will take approximately 30 minutes and results are visible either immediately or within 1 week after treatment. With Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), a series of 3 sessions may be recommended based on your skin needs. With Long Pulsed Yag, most patients see a 50-75% reduction in broken blood vessels after 1-3 treatments. For best results, a series of 3-7 sessions spaced 2-4 weeks apart are recommended.

LASERTONE FACIAL TREATMENT POST CARE

Redness, mild swelling and warm skin are completely normal and typically last for a few hours after treatment. Treated areas may be temperature-sensitive and can be pink-to-red in color. It is normal for your skin to feel dry and itchy while it is healing. To reduce immediate discomfort, an oral over-the-counter pain reliever may be taken. Sleeping with your head elevated for the evening following your treatment is recommended to reduce swelling.

WHAT IS THE RECOMMENDED SKIN CARE ROUTINE AFTER LASERTONE ERBIUM RESURFACING TREATMENT

We recommend the AIREM Essentials Recovery Ritual.

  • Wash the treated area with Canvas gentle hyaluronic cleanser AM/PM.
  • Apply a thin layer of Chrysalis arnica blossom gel to decrease inflammation.
  • Apply a thin layer of Cocoon healing balm 3-4 times during the first 3 days.

Alternatively, you can use mild cleanser (Cetaphil or Cerave), then Aquaphor in the morning and night before bedtime for at least 3 days post-treatment. A broad-spectrum physical block sunscreen with SPF45 or higher (containing zinc oxide or titanium oxide) must be used post treatment whenever outside. Start applying SPF on day 4. An AIREM clinician will let you know when to re-start your normal skincare routine, which is commonly around day 7.

WHAT TO AVOID AFTER LASERTONE ERBIUM RESURFACING TREATMENT

We highly recommend avoiding the following after the LaserTone Erbium Resurfacing treatment.

  • Topical retinol, AHA/BHA or hydroquinone-containing products for 1 week
  • Sun exposure of treated area for 2-3 weeks
  • Activities that cause excessive sweating, such as exercise, or may raise body temperature, such as hot tubs, saunas or baths, for 24-48 hours

ADVANCED SKIN REJUVENATION WITH THESE NEW LASER RESURFACING TREATMENTS

Results from AIREM LaserTone Erbium Resurfacing Treatment with an Exosomes SkinBooster Add On

LASERTONE ERBIUM RESURFACING TREATMENT

In this intense, comprehensive rejuvenation of the skin, the AIREM LaserTone Erbium Resurfacing Treatment utilizes Erbium Yag laser technology, a fully ablative laser, to drastically regenerate the skin.

HOW THE LASERTONE ERBIUM RESURFACING TREATMENT WORKS

Human skin is composed of approximately 64% water. The energy radiating from the Erbium Resurfacing Laser is attracted to the water in our skin. When applied to the skin,  this energy is captured in the epidermis and dermis skin layers to create a thermal injury and vaporize skin tissue. Once injured, the skin begins a very rapid process of repair. The object of damaging the skin is to stimulate it just enough to promote healing, which happens by the creation of new, healthy skin cells.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF THE LASERTONE ERBIUM RESURFACING TREATMENT

The LaserTone Erbium Resurfacing Treatment has been proven to deliver dramatic results, including:

  • Smooth skin texture: large pore size, uneven texture, crepiness
  • Promote collagen production
  • Treat fine lines and wrinkles
  • Resurface scars and stretch marks

WHAT CAN BE EXPECTED FROM THE TREATMENT

After you are thoroughly numbed, our AIREM skin expert will begin scanning the laser over a specific section or your entire face. You may feel a faint rubber band snapping on the skin but due to the numbing, it will not be unpleasant. A fan, ice pack, cool washcloth and AIREM Pearlessence Hydrating Face Mask will be provided in the office to help with the redness and swelling. The treatment will take approximately 30 minutes and results will be visible within 1 week after treatment. For best results, a series of 2-3 sessions may be recommended based on your skin needs.

HOW TO ACHIEVE OPTIMAL HEALING

To expedite healing and achieve optimal results, Dr. Park recommends combining the LaserTone Erbium Resurfacing Treatment with an Exosome SkinBooster add on. The AIREM Exosome SkinBooster is designed to help skin cells regenerate at a faster rate so you can have healthy, more radiant skin. In this skin rejuvenation treatment, AIREM uses exosome serum derived from a FDA-registered lab of donated human stem cells that have undergone a purification process to remove impurities. Our team of medical and skin care experts administer this serum directly post microneedling or laser treatments as it has been shown to enhance results and provide a quicker-than-normal healing process.

“I recommend adding Exosomes over all advanced resurfacing treatments. When the pores are open and able to absorb these ‘natural-healers derived from stem cells’, it is the opportune time to administer exosomes. This dramatically supports the body’s ability to heal, boosting the recovery time and enhancing results.” - Dr. Park.

LASERTONE ERBIUM RESURFACING POST CARE TREATMENT

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER LASERTONE ERBIUM RESURFACING TREATMENT

Directly after the treatment, it may feel as if you have a bad sunburn with intense redness and swelling. This is completely normal and typically lasts 72 hours. Treated areas may be temperature-sensitive and can be pink-to-red in color. While your skin will naturally heal in 3-7 days on average, it may take several weeks for the redness to completely fade. Over the course of 5-7 days, the treated area will get darker, scab and flake off. It is normal for your skin to feel dry and itchy while it is healing.

To reduce immediate discomfort, an oral over-the-counter pain reliever may be taken. Sleeping with your head elevated for 24 to 48 hours and/or taking an antihistamine, such as Benadryl or Zyrtec, is recommended to reduce swelling. We also recommend avoiding consuming foods with a high sodium content during the first 24 to 48 hours of healing.

WHAT IS THE RECOMMENDED SKIN CARE ROUTINE AFTER LASERTONE ERBIUM RESURFACING TREATMENT

In order to achieve optimal results, we recommend investing in the AIREM Essentials Recovery Ritual. This post procedure skin care routine was specifically created by AIREM Founder and Facial Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Eunice Park, to accelerate the skin’s natural healing process by providing nourishing and hydrating ingredients for optimum skin recovery. Each post procedure skin care product has been clinically demonstrated to cool, soothe, restore, cleanse and moisturize the skin that is recovering from facial aesthetic treatments.

Alternatively, you can use a mild cleanser, such as Cetaphil or Cerave, followed by a thin layer of Aquaphor in the morning and evening for at least 3 days post-treatment. A broad-spectrum physical sunscreen with SPF45 or higher that contains zinc oxide or titanium oxide must be used post-treatment whenever outside, which is not recommended until post-treatment day 4.

WHAT TO AVOID AFTER LASERTONE ERBIUM RESURFACING TREATMENT

We highly recommend avoiding the following after the LaserTone Erbium Resurfacing treatment.

  • Makeup applied to the treated skin for 5-7 days, or until all scabs have flaked off.
  • Topical retinol, AHA/BHA or hydroquinone-containing products for 1 week

How effective is laser skin resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing is effective in diminishing dark spots, balancing skin tone and reducing the signs of aging, especially with multiple treatment sessions. Laser skin resurfacing does not prevent new or previous dark spots, wrinkles or uneven skin tone from recurring as aging, genetics, sun damage, acne and other factors can have an effect on the skin.

Am I a good candidate for laser resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing is a good option for men and women that are seeing signs of aging, have uneven skin tone and are looking to refresh their appearance. This treatment is appropriate for most skin tones.

What are the side effects of laser resurfacing?

Side effects will depend on the type, depth and intensity of laser treatment. SkinEven, Claripore and LaserTone Facial are several of AIREM’s most popular non-ablative laser resurfacing treatments with minimal downtime.

Does the skin darken after laser treatment?

In rare cases, laser skin resurfacing can cause post-inflammatory pigmentation (PIH). PIH can occur in Asian, Hispanic and African American individuals who have Fitzpatrick skin types III or greater as well as those with very sensitive skin. During your consultation, Dr. Park will address any concerns you may have including how to treat PIH if you happen to experience this condition.

What is the laser resurfacing recovery time?

The recovery time varies from a few days to one to 2 weeks depending on the type, depth and intensity of laser treatment. None of the laser skin resurfacing treatments that AIREM offers require any down time.

How do I take care of my skin after laser resurfacing?

We recommend gentle skin care products and applying sunscreen for the first few weeks to prevent possible damage to the treated areas. AIREM formulated the Recovery Ritual to be used after laser and aesthetic treatments.

How long does laser resurfacing last?

Laser treatments are usually performed on a yearly basis to maintain best results. Sun damage, wrinkles and pigmentation continue to affect our skin. Maintenance is key to a healthy and luminous complexion.

How much is laser resurfacing?

Laser resurfacing costs are approximately $550 to $1000 per session. At AIREM, we offer a laser resurfacing package with multiple sessions at a competitive rate.

When should I have laser skin resurfacing?

Autumn is typically considered “laser” season. The fall and winter months are the best time to undergo a laser skin resurfacing procedure in order to minimize sun exposure post-procedure. During the fall and winter months daytime hours are shorter and we spend more time indoors during the healing period.
